Seton Lake/Chasm Count

Wild Sheep Society members, along with community partners recently conduct a sheep count for Bighorns in the Seton Lake and Chasm areas.
The first crew set out in boats on Seton Lake, spending the entire day glassing from a number of different vantage points. The results were somewhat spotty with only fifteen sheep being spotted from the lake. As the turnout for “spotters” was poor it is hoped the count was a result of the lack of eyes. Sue Lemke and associates spent a number of hours later in the week flying the same area. The results were much better with a total of 31 sheep being spotted. However one area of concern was the lack of lambs in that total. As a result a spring survey is in the works for next spring.

The aerial crew also flew the Chasm area, spotting a total of 40 plus animals.

Thanks to those who came out and participated, we will keep you updated on future counts.
