Change in Regs

After going in to Cassiar this year and seeing all the habitat but not as many sheep as I would have thought, I am thinking that the areas with easy access (roads) should be turned in to a bow zone or have an age restriction. When was the last count in that area, and what has been the historical numbers there? Lamb recruitment was 20% from what I saw. I am not a bow hunter, nor would I be able to participate in the age restricted hunts, and I hate restrictions, but I would like to see the numbers increase there if possible. Ideas? Comments? Experiences?

change in regs

Access is a huge problem in region 6. There just isn't much in the northern part. Maybe if there was more access to the farther out areas we could spread out the hunting pressure that way rather than more restrictions. We lost alot of areas to hunt with the atv restrictions that were put in all over the northern areas, and lots of guys who used to do the argo, quad trips can't get to their areas any longer. So alot of guys are only able to access those easier areas close to the highway and the few side roads that get anywhere near a sheep mtn. For most it's hike in now. I too hate the idea of restrictions and fear that restrictions in one area will just push everyone into the other areas, maybe the beginning of a cycle that will just bring restrictions to other areas as well. Just some of my thoughts. Good topic for discussion.

Hope your trip was enjoyable.

Rich.
