The WSSoBC feels the creation of a National Park Reserve in the South Okanagan is not in the best interest of the Wild Sheep in that area.

I'd like to hear some ideas that people have for sheep-related projects. Some of our members recently participated in the Okanagan Mountain Park transplant, and we had a sheep count at Spences bridge in November, but I'd like to hear some more project ideas. One other project that will hopefully happen in the near future is a habitat enhancement burn at Big Bar. Details of this will be posted in this forum once I have more information. In the meantime, let's hear some other project ideas!
Alan
Bill, I really wanted to take part in that sheep count but thats opening weekend for turkeys!!! Not enough days in a weekend!
Mark your calendars for April 14 & 15 weekend. We'll be starting out at about 8 am, from a meeting spot in Spences, yet to be determined. Area to be broken up into section map, primary effort on Saturday, but hope to have some coverage on Sunday too.
If the interest is there, to have a powwow Sat night, we may set something up for a meeting/bonfire/hoedown.
Is it still a go?
Edit: It was a good time with good weather and good people.
Burn and Reintroduction
Looking through "Return of Royalty", there used to be Cali's in Duffy Lake, Bendor Range, and Texas Creek. How about a burn in these areas, followed by a transplant a year or two following? Also, would the Ilgachuz herd benefit from a burn?
When was the last count for RMBH in Hamber Park?
Are there any predation control programs for Thinhorns that we could aid?
I was not able to attend the OMP transplant (weekdays!) but did make the Vaseaux Lake count. I'm looking forward to the Spence's Bridge count.
